A long-time student of the University of Baguio, Angela Betsaida B. Laguipo first began her academic journey at the University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School (UBLS). She graduated as the valedictorian of her batch in 2000, a title which she continued to carry after her time at the UB Science High School. In college she took up a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, graduating with cum laude honors in 2008.
Her professional career began with being a university nurse, a position which she held for six years. She later became a medical news correspondent for an international health website. She also became a clinical instructor at the UB School of Nursing.
In 2020, after the pandemic severely impacted the state of education all over the world, she leaned into her passion for visual arts. She won third place in the Philippine Nurse’s Association and National Poster competition, and she garnered a place as a national finalist in the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency Digital Poster Making Contest. Her art was also showcased in the Independence Day Celebration Exhibit by the Philippine Embassy in Thailand and Kuala Lumpur’s KARYA SENI KECIL – The Art of ACEO exhibit.
Her journey as an artist has been recognized by notable art publications like Novice Magazine, the GSIS National Art Competition catalog, Heart to Art: An Advocacy Anthology, and Pintanaga: Linya-Linya sa Pagsinta.
Miss Laguipo’s journey through her nursing and art career is a testament to her flourishing skills in both fields. Her continued growth embodies the academic excellence and the spirit of passion that the University of Baguio strives to nurture in its learners.
