Why I chose the University of Baguio

“The university's motto, “It’s all up here,” stuck with me from day one. It reminded me that success isn't just about what you know, but about your mindset, discipline, and how you approach challenges.”

As a proud graduate of the University of Baguio with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSMLS), I can confidently say that the University of Baguio played a vital role in shaping who I am today, both as a Medical Technologist and as a Public Servant.

Looking back at my time at UB, I can honestly say that those years played a huge role in shaping the person I am today. I took up a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, and it wasn’t always easy, but UB made sure I had the support and tools to push through.

The university instilled in me the discipline, analytical thinking, and ethical responsibility essential to the profession.

The university’s motto, “It’s all up here,” stuck with me from day one. It reminded me that success isn’t just about what you know, but about your mindset, discipline, and how you approach challenges. Through countless sleepless nights, lab work, and late-night study sessions, I started to understand what “In the pursuit of perfection” really means. It’s about always doing your best, even when things get tough.

Now, as a Registered Medical Technologist working as a Health Program Officer focused on the HIV Program under the Department of Health–Cordillera, I’m using everything I learned, not just the technical skills, but the values the University of Baguio taught me. I get to work closely with communities, helping raise awareness and improve lives, and that’s something I’m genuinely proud of.

UB wasn’t just a school for me; it was the place where I discovered my purpose, built lifelong friendships, and found the confidence to go after my goals. I remain grateful to the institution, its faculty, and the community that shaped my journey.

And with that, with my head held high, I am proud to say that I am a product of UB.
