The University of Baguio (UB), in partnership with the UB Alumni Foundation, Inc. (UBAFI), continues to strengthen its alumni relations through an orientation for the School Alumni Relations Coordinators (SARC), attended by representatives from all UB schools, from the Basic Education to the Tertiary level.

Engr. Eleazer Demayo, representing UBAFI, welcomed the coordinators and shared insights on enhancing alumni engagement. He also discussed the criteria by which schools are recognized as Top Performing Schools in Alumni Engagement. For this year, the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the School of Law, and UB Elementary were recognized for their active involvement of alumni in university and school-based activities.

Over the years, UB has fostered a strong culture of alumni involvement, closely collaborating with UBAFI in various initiatives. These include the Grand Alumni Homecoming, Outreach Programs, Fundraising Activities, Fellowship Gatherings, and Awards and Recognition Programs that honor distinguished UB alumni. These efforts have created meaningful opportunities for alumni to remain connected with their alma mater while contributing to the growth of the UB community.

Ms. Melanie Rulla-Saro, Director of the Linkages Office, emphasized the vital role of the School Alumni Relations Coordinators in achieving greater alumni participation in the coming academic year. As outlined in UB’s Institutional Development Plan under KRA 5: Relations to the Community, the University aims to achieve at least 25 alumni per program involvement in key areas such as program and curriculum review, faculty and student development, facilities improvement, outreach and extension programs, quality assurance activities, and other initiatives that encourage deeper alumni participation.

The orientation reaffirmed UB’s commitment to building a stronger alumni network, recognizing that alumni play a pivotal role not only in celebrating the University’s legacy but also in shaping its future.
