The City of Vaughan in Ontario, Canada, has recognized a proud alumna of the University of Baguio High School (UB-HS), Ms. Erlinda Insigne, as one of eight outstanding individuals to receive its highest civic distinction, the Order of Vaughan.
The Order of Vaughan was established by the city to recognize exceptional individuals that have made notable contributions to the city through their endeavors in the different sectors of the community, including Accessibility, Arts and Entertainment, Education, and Not-For-Profit to name a few. Recipients are presented with the Order of Vaughan at an annual investiture ceremony, which this year took place at Vaughan City Hall on November 13, 2024, which was presided over by Mayor Steven Del Duca.
As a founding director and long-serving president of the Filipino-Canadian Association of Vaughan (FCAV), Ms. Erlinda has been instrumental in strengthening ties between the Filipino and Canadian communities. Her efforts have fostered meaningful cultural exchanges, and she played a pivotal role in establishing the Friendship Agreement between the City of Vaughan and Baguio City, further promoting collaboration and mutual understanding. Her notable contributions to the Not-For-Profit sector are what largely allowed her to be recognized as an outstanding individual in her community, highlighting her unwavering commitment to fostering unity and solidarity.
